Succesful visit to Bangkok, May 2006
Printmedia Global Solutions (Frits Beurskens and Bert Teljeur) visited Bangkok from May 22 to 27, 2006.
During their visit they attended the EFI meeting for the Asian and Asian Pacific dealers and conducted a seminar on the new ISO 12647 standardisation for the printing industry.
The Sukhothai University and the Chulalongkorn University (25.000 students per year) were also visited. Both universities offer graphic courses to the Thai printing industry. The Sukhothai University is aiming more on practical training while the Chulalongkorn University is aiming more on management training.
During the visit to the Chulalongkorn University two seminars were conducted to a large group of managers from the Thai printing industry.
The topics of these seminars were on Computer to Plate (how to chose the right system and how to assure a good quality using CtP) and on standardization of the printing process (especially on the new ISO 12647 standards). These two topics are of interest for the printing industry in Thailand because of its focus on export of printed matter.
Furthermore Printmedia Global Solutions visited one of the leading Thai packaging companies and was interviewed by the Thai Printer, a leading graphic magazine in Thailand.

PIAP Seminar, Manila
On March 11, 2006 the Printing Industries Association of the Philippines (PIAP) organized their first printing update seminar with the title “digital developments and standardization”. It was carried out by the Technical Committee (TC) of PIAP. The event took place in the Galleria Holliday Inn Hotel in Manila. They invited two Dutch experts and consultants, Mr. Bert Talens (pre-press expertise) and Mr. Frits Beurskens of Printmedia Global Solutions (printing expertise) to talk and discuss on four different topics.

These topics where:
- CtP, which was aiming on the difference in CtP systems and what to take in account when you want to invest in CtP.

- Digital Printing – a thread or an opportunity. This was aiming on the differences between conventional printing and digital printing and what to take in account when you want digital printing to become successful.

- PDF workflow, which was aiming on the correct creation of a PDF file and how to set up an acurate working PDF workflow.

- Standardization, which was aiming on the reasons why printing companies should standardize, how they should standardize and especially on the ISO 12647 standards for printing.

The seminar was attended by 50 participants, representing 24 graphic companies from the Manila area. This exceeded the expectations of the organization. After each topic, the participants where invited to ask questions or to discuss their problems with the speakers or other participants. At the end of the day the participant where given the opportunity to have a one-on-one discussion with the speakers or to make an appointment for further discussions on a later moment.
This seminar was the first one in a series of similar events which the PIAP is planning to organize. The aim of these seminars is to provide the graphic industry with up to date and independent information on development in the graphic industry. Graphic companies need this information to be able to take the right decision when the want to invest in equipment or when they have to decide in what direction the want to grow. International competition and growing quality demands of customers force graphic companies to think and decide in the correct way. To do this independent information is necessary. The two resource speakers of this first seminar could give useful and important information on their topics.
It can be concluded that this first update seminar was a successful one and is the basic for more event to come.
